Finally saw TYG 2. I have to say this is the worst tony Jaa film so far. Not one bit because of Jaa but entirely due to its director Prachya Pinkaew. The basic plot is more or less the same as TYG 1 so no point in wasting time in talking about it. Lets get straight to the action. I don't understand this need to go on broad canvas and ruin the kind of films that you stood for. Raid 2 looks to be going the same route from the last 2 promos.
There are several scenes were there was such a huge opportunity to choreograph a great fight scene but the director simply ruined it by his sudden obsession with wire work and poor CGI. The biggest irritation for me was to see the director desperately trying to pass off Mareese Crump as this newest greatest martial artist on the block.
Watch him just for 2 minutes and you realise its all a farce. All his fight scenes with Jaa are poorly choreographed in an attempt to make Crump look good. What the film is light on, though, is the practical effects and brutal realism that made me fall in love with Tom-Yum-Goong in the first place. Instead of incredible fight sequences staged over elaborate set pieces, we get just-decent fight sequences staged mostly in front of a blue screen, with a ton of digital effects including lame 3D gimmicks thrown in.
Despite the overburdening of computer animation, Tom-Yum-Goong 2 offers plenty of exciting fight sequences, including one in which all the walls are inexplicably covered with flames, which allows Jaa to light his shoes on fire, which I guess makes his kicks more painful.
Still, I was able to suspend my disbelief and appreciate the concept for the same reason I can enjoy the Crank films. Tony Jaa was just Tony Jaa, seemingly a little less daring and athletic than he was in the last film, a little less willing to put his life and limb on the line for a great stunt. I love Rza. The man knows more about martial arts movies than I ever will, and it shows in his performance.
He adds nothing substantial, not even the comedic element he brought last time. My favorite characters were a duo of young girls whom I dubbed the Pixie twins. They basically tend to show up at just the right moment to add more bodies to the chaos. Please, please give us a third entry, and go back to what made the first one so awesome. I guess they became friends.
With the photos of them doing martial art movements, like high kicks and jump kicks, the fans probably wanted them to star in a movie together. Then Tony Jaa did a more appropriate introduction to Muay Thai, so those 2 should really do at least 1 film together.
He was the worst part of The Man with the Iron Fists. But damn, he ruined that movie. I did see the TYG2 leaked preview via the 2nd website required a search. Though I would have preferred to see a lengthy preview, it looked pretty good. Thanks for sharing. Thanks for the tip.
I went ahead and added the new link. Also noted that you may have to do a search. They just occasionally get stuck having to cover for egotistical a-hole Western producers who think they know better how to sell these pics. Looking forward to this one after watching the teaser trailer. I still want to see it though. He just needs to up his game.
Intrigue us Tony, like what you did with Ong Bak. Will probably be entertaining though. A lot of Tony Jaa news lately. Did you guys hear about a new demo he did that was shown on Twitch? You know what I mean? Is he living backwards? Unfortunately, this movie is terrible. I was very disappointed.

Yeah I want to see Se7en in drama but not this one. I haven't check in Soompi so long so don't know the news is true or not. The story is about him entering the palace and what happens after that. Not knowing that he's a prince, he works at a Chinese Restaurant as a delivery boy He looks at everything in a positive aspect and is an optimist by nature. Though he's in poverty poor , he lives every day freely She thinks preciously of her fraternal twin.
